Mountain Music is an independent music shop and community performance space in the Rockridge area of Oakland, CA. We’re located just down the street from the iconic Mountain View Cemetery. Shop proprietor, Adam Lipansky is a trained luthier, and performs in-house string instrument repair with our other guitar technicians. Adam has been a musician, music teacher, and luthier for 30 years serving Oakland, Piedmont, LaMorinda, SF and neighboring Bay Area cities through his previously owned establishment, Adam’s String Shack, before opening Mountain Music with his wife, Felicia Lipansky who runs the front of the house, in March of 2020.

We at Mountain Music specialize in unique, rare, and vintage gear and instruments, in addition to a large range of options for beginners and advanced musicians alike. We offer string instrument repair, amp repair, and turntable restoration. We hold music lessons for all ages in-house and online, as well as open our store up as an event venue, providing a performance space for our community of musicians.
